    ICBC Standard Bank, Mr. Gavilan was responsible for key account multi-asset coverage,
    providing precious, base metals and energy risk management services to producers,
    central banks and consumers. During his formative years at JPMorgan Chase, he initially
    served as a P/L analyst, and then spot trader and derivatives market maker; before
    expanding into a Latin America marketing role covering base, precious and energy
    markets.
    From 2014 to 2019, Mr. Gavilan served as the SVP of market development at Republic
    Metals Corporation; a former LBMA good delivery precious metals refinery. As an executive
    committee member, he advised on strategic projects, risk management initiatives and
    lender relations. Utilizing his extensive connections, Mr. Gavilan also oversaw the
    expansion of Republic Metal’s global footprint. As head of RMC China, he focused primarily
    on physical metal sales into Asia and raw materials procurement; leading Republic to
    become the first North American refinery to achieve Shanghai Gold Exchange Good
    Delivery status.

    Mr. Gavilan was awarded an MBA in finance and investments from Baruch College
    Zicklin School of Business. As an undergraduate, he studied at Fordham College at
    Lincoln Center receiving cum laude honors for a BA in Psychology. James is fluent in
    Spanish and enjoys motorcycling, snowboarding, and creative writing.

    As Chief Technical Officer for the LBMA, Neil’s responsibilities include acting as the Executive’s main contact for the Good Delivery system for GD Refiners, applicants and LBMA Committees. His duties include managing the LBMA Good Delivery accreditation system, including applications, Pro-Active Monitoring, Proficiency Testing and other GD related projects. The role also involves overseeing the work of the GDL Officer in the administration of the Good Delivery system as well as managing the implementation by gold Good Delivery refiners of the LBMA’s Responsible Gold Guidance and ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the Good Delivery work carried out by the LBMA.

    He brings to the role a wealth of experience having previously been Head of Evaluation at the Rand Refinery in South Africa. He represented the Rand Refinery at the LBMA as the only Referee in the Southern Hemisphere. As one of only five Referees appointed by the LBMA to oversee the maintenance of the LBMA’s Good Delivery List, he has been involved in many initiatives to ensure and develop the integrity of the gold industry. He contributed to the steering committee which produced the “Conflict-Free” Gold Standard of the World Gold Council as well as the development of the LBMA’s Responsible Gold Guidance and presented the Rand Refinery “Artisanal gold” Model at the OECD in Paris. He was a Board Member of the Responsible Jewellery Council representing the Gold and/or Platinum Metals, Refiners and/or Hedgers Forum as well as sitting on the Membership Committee. His work experience included nine years in the Platinum Industry and held the position as a member of the South African Organising Committee of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

    Grant is the Global head of the Sibanye-Stillwater’s recycling operations. Sibanye-Stillwater own and operate the Columbus Metallurgical Complex, a smelting facility and base metal refinery situated between the Stillwater mine and the town of Billings, Montana. It is one of the world’s largest producers of PGMs recycled from spent automotive catalytic converters. Prior to his recycling role, Grant was focused on Sibanye-Stillwater’s sustainability agenda through his role as Senior Vice President Environment. This role followed as a logical extension from his role as the Vice President for the West Rand Tailings Retreatment Project (WRTRP), ap project involving the recycling of the vast quantity of tailings material scattered over the West Rand in Johannesburg South Africa, for the economic extraction of gold and uranium. In 2007 Grant was the lead on the Uranium Project from tailings for Harmony Gold. In this role within Harmony he lead the creation of Rand Uranium and subsequently joined the company as the Corporate Development Executive. Gold One acquired Rand Uranium in 2011 and Grant joined Gold One as the head of Investor Relations. In addition to the role Grant managed the Joint Venture that was established between Gold Fields and Gold One to exploit the vast on surface tailings resources (WRTRP). Grant joined Sibanye-Stillwater following the acquisition of Rand Uranium by Sibanye from Gold One in 2013. Prior to joining Harmony, Grant was a Senior Manager within the strategy and innovation practice at Deloitte. His management consulting spanned 10 years over a wide range of industries. Grant has a BSc Chemistry and Chemical Sciences and a Post Graduate in Business Administration from Wits Business School in South Africa.
